So who are we?
We have joined with Experience Community which is a community interest not for profit company based in Yorkshire to create Experience Community South West, our aim is to get disabled people in the south west better access to the great outdoors.
PeterPeter is the Experience Community South West director and has been making and riding A-MTB's since 2015, prior to becoming a wheelchair user in 2013 he was riding and racing mountain bikes along with Kayaking and canoeing.
With a young family, riding varies greatly anywhere from going to the beach and riding family trails to riding trail centres. Oh, or doing a bubble rush events. Peter would like to make a resource for the A-MTB riders of the UK to share experiences and routes that are accessible and try to get others into this great sport that really gives you freedom to go anywhere. |
John
John is the logistics manager and also acts as a support rider making sure everthing runs well. Although able bodied he also rides a handcycle because they are so much fun. John really likes pushing to the limits of both himself and the bikes. Since he got his A-MTB his standard mountain bike has been hung on the wall and not used. |
Our AimWe will be updating this site with as many routes as possible, this will include family rides, trails, Mountain Trike routes and also touring routes.
We have developed our own trail grading system that can be seen on the A-mtb grading page; We have always been unsure about following the mountain bike guides as they can be misleading for A-MTBs that have different strengths and weaknesses. We also want you to get involved, send us routes that you have done with a description and we will add them to the list. You can also send us photos you have taken of your bikes, you must admit they all look great so why not show everyone, we will not publish full names or location for security but it would be great to see what everyone is riding. We will be organising group rides and rambles on Mountain trikes for all abilities at events at various locations, check out the events page for the full list of current events from Experience community. |
